Dr. Jessica Nasser
Jessica D. Nasser, Ph.D., is a Clinical Psychologist who specializes in the delivery of Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based approaches to treat anxiety disorders including Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, social anxiety, health anxiety, phobias, stress and trauma. She also treats mood disorders, eating disorders, and body image and emotion regulation difficulties. Specialized treatments that she provides include exposure therapy for anxiety disorders, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD (including lesser-known subtypes of OCD such as harm OCD, relationship OCD, sexual orientation OCD, moral scrupulosity OCD, postpartum OCD, etc.), CBT for bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, emotional eating, and Family-Based Therapy (Maudsley approach) for anorexia nervosa.
Dr. Nasser works with children (as young as 3), adolescents, and adults. She uses the latest science and research to provide effective, evidence-based interventions for her clients. She is also mindful of individual differences and collaboratively works with clients to generate and regularly evaluate customized treatment plans. Dr. Nasser is fluent in Spanish and can work with Spanish-speaking patients.
Dr. Nasser supervises doctoral-level graduate students from Georgia State University. She currently trains psychology doctoral students and interns at Emory’s Department of Psychology in the delivery of CBT for anxiety disorders, OCD, and eating disorders.
Dr. Nasser was a J. Rex Fuqua Scholar during her postdoctoral fellowship at Emory, which she completed at the Child and Adolescent Mood Program and at the Department of Psychology’s Healthy Eating and Weight Support Lab. Her research has examined mechanisms of action in mindfulness-based cognitive-behavioral therapies and has investigated underlying causes of disordered eating behavior. She has published in peer-reviewed journal articles and presented at national conferences.
Dr. Nasser is originally from Florida and was raised in Florida and South America. She lived in Atlanta and worked in-person with Anxiety Specialists of Atlanta from 2017 to 2020, after which she moved to Cleveland, OH with her family. Still with Anxiety Specialists of Atlanta, Dr. Nasser now provides teletherapy services to both Georgia and Ohio residents. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, including an active toddler, cooking and eating with friends, reading, and the outdoors.
