Licensed Providers
Jen Powell, LPC, NCC, CCH, CPCS is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS), and Director of Community Engagement. She specializes in providing psychotherapy services to adults. Jen has 11 years of experience in treating trauma and stressor-related disorders, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), ADHD, and other anxiety and mood disorders. Jen utilizes aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and other empirically-driven modalities for the treatment of a variety of mental health conditions, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma-focused treatment.
Jen believes that the relationship between the therapist and client is one of the key factors in facilitating positive self-growth and that implementing a humanistic, person-centered approach to therapy serves to provide clients with feelings of self-acceptance and empowerment in their journey towards wellness. Jen works collaboratively with clients in developing skills to help increase interpersonal effectiveness and assertiveness, tolerate distressing situations, and learn how to regulate overwhelming emotions. Jen works with clients to help them identify and heal the unresolved childhood traumas which continue to affect them in their adult lives.
Jen has extensive experience in giving presentations to members of the community to raise awareness on how to effectively manage anxiety and stress, and she has also given psychoeducational presentations and workshops on both the collegiate and corporate levels. The environments in which Jen has worked with clients include university, career, counseling centers, community-based intervention settings, and private practice.
An Atlanta native, Jen lives in Woodstock with her husband, their daughter, and two “fur kids”. In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, traveling, concerts and festivals, college football, and attending the theatre.
