What level of treatment is best for me:

There are generally four recognized levels of psychiatric care and each treatment center has their own criteria, treatment plans, and timing for the levels of care.

A general breakdown of these services includes:

Outpatient treatment: Typically between 1-3 hours of treatment a week

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP): Typically mental health services more intensive than routine outpatient and less intensive than a Partial Hospital Program. IOPs typically range from 3-20 hours per week of direct treatment. You can learn more about our IOP services by clicking here.

Partial hospitalization programs (PHP): The main difference between IOPs and PHPs is the length of time. The PHP treatment is a bit more demanding than the IOP treatment, requiring more visits and sessions a week, making its intensity almost similar to that of residential recovery programs without living onsite.

Residential treatment: Residential treatment usually is the best level of care for individuals leaving a hospital or locked psychiatric acute care facility or in need of psychiatric care that require 24/7 access to a treatment team. Residential level of care is commonly for about 8 to 12 weeks before stepping down to PHP or IOP, though symptoms severity can require longer stays, sometime 4-8 months.
