Dr. Caroline Swetlitz is a postdoctoral fellow at Anxiety Specialists of Atlanta. She specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders in children, adolescents and young adults using evidence-based techniques grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Children (DBT-C), and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Dr. Swetlitz also provides parent behavioral management training to address disruptive behaviors in children. She especially enjoys collaborating closely with parents/caregivers and leveraging the parent-child relationship to support progress towards treatment goals. As a fellow, she is being supervised by Dr. Shanee Toledano.

Dr. Swetlitz earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Boston University. As a graduate student, she received comprehensive training in the assessment and evidence-based treatment of youth with a wide range of anxiety, mood, and disruptive behavior disorders. She completed predoctoral externships within the Boston University Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CARD), McLean Hospital, and the public school system in Massachusetts. She completed her predoctoral internship at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta/Emory University School of Medicine, where she provided assessment and intervention services for youth with autism spectrum disorder. Prior to her graduate training, Dr. Swetlitz worked as a postbaccalaurate research fellow at the National Institute of Mental Health conducting research on anxiety disorders in youth.

Dr. Swetlitz’s research has focused on understanding the brain-based factors that impact parenting and the influence of parenting on the developing brain. She has published peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters on topics related to child anxiety, depression, and parenting.

Dr. Swetlitz is originally from Raleigh, NC. In her free time, she enjoys exploring Georgia, traveling, pilates, and music.

  • 2024: Began postdoctoral fellowship at Anxiety Specialists of Atlanta
